If you’ve ever had a crown, bridge or veneer done, you know the process is cumbersome and time consuming. Before CEREC technology the tooth getting a crown would need to be prepared, an impression or mold would need to be taken and a temporary crown made to prevent sensitivity and drifting of the tooth. At that point it was 4-7 days until the crown was made at the lab and back in the office and ready for cementation.
However, a CEREC crown eliminates all of the time lag and is done with minimal discomfort. CEREC technology uses a 3D computer image of your teeth to build a new crown which is milled in our office out of a solid ceramic block. Because we are able to digitally build your crown, we are able to fit and cement your crown with virtually no adjustments needed. All in an about an hour and a half!!! Single visit dentistry is the most comfortable and efficient way dental work is done.
People often ask about durability of CEREC crowns, veneers and bridges. We are using the very same materials and technology that our labs are using to fabricate crowns. There is absolutely no difference in durability of a “same day” crown vs. a conventional crown, in fact it’s better.
